I’m a firm believer that healing begins with understanding the impact of trauma on the mind and body.
My therapeutic approach aims to create a safe space where clients can explore their experiences freely. My approach not only addresses these symptoms of trauma but also equips clients with the tools to cope with challenges they may come from trauma. I help and support clients in developing skills for managing their emotions and reactions in their daily life.
I work on creating an environment where clients feel safe and understood. I prioritize a warm, compassionate approach that encourages openness and vulnerability. Working in substance use counseling, one of my goals is to meet an individual where they are at and create the recovery journey from that point. Therapy is a partnership. I work collaboratively with my clients to ensure they feel heard and validated throughout the healing process. I honor and respect the diverse backgrounds of our clients. My practice is inclusive, providing culturally sensitive therapy that considers the nuances of each individual's experiences.
I’m committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues and advocating for the importance of trauma-informed care in our community. At the heart of my practice I believe that each individual has the capacity for growth. I empower clients to take an active role in their healing journey, fostering a sense of agency and control over their lives.
In 2016, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT. In 2019, I became a Peer Support Specialist through the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) in Portland, OR. By 2021, I had obtained certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor through MHACBO.
In 2022, I obtained Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II, again through MHACBO in Portland, OR. In 2024, I completed a Master of Social Work degree at Portland State University.
I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Additionally, in 2024, I received training in EMDR Therapy and Flash Techniques with Philip Mansfield in Portland, OR.
I grew up in Utah gardening, beekeeping, and learning ways to preserve the garden’s abundance for the year with my family. This passion has continued throughout my life and is my current hobby.
In my free time I like to garden, hike, kayak, cook, and spend time with my family which includes my three dogs.
I am always looking for the next adventure and love to go to new places and explore new hiking trails.
Little secret about me is I’m big into collecting old gaming systems. I love to play old school gaming systems and would consider myself a big gamer.
As a therapist, I have experience in both professional and clinical settings. I have worked with a diverse range of clients, including Adults, Couples, Gay Allied, Lesbian Allied, Non-Binary Allied, Queer Allied, Racial Justice Allied, and Transgender Allied.
